PRO has worked on the development of an environmental and economical process for the production of a commercially pure titanium dioxide product for use in the pigment industry and as for production of other titanium compounds. This patented chloride leach process has been shown to be superior to current operations with the following highlights:

• Lower capital and operating cost compared to other process options
• Directly treats ilmenite (Rock and Mineral Sands)
• Can also treat ilmenites that are not suited for other processes due to the presence of impurities such as V, Cr, Mn Etc.
• Reagents are recycled reducing the environmental impact.
• Produces a high purity TiO2 product.

A pilot plant operation of the entire flowsheet from primary ore preparation to end product has been conducted.
