Solar energy is at the forefront of sustainable energy and with the production of more efficient and economical solar panels their use has been globally adopted. Rice husks, traditionally a waste material, are now being used as a precursor for silicon in solar panels. PRO is harnessing this waste material by developing a process solution in partnership with researchers at the University of Toronto to convert Ace husks to solar grade silicon. A highly efficient and novel processing technique is being investigated utilizing a cyclonic fluidized bed to obtain a silicon precursor that has physical and chemical properties ideally suited to our patented chloride leach technology to produce highly pure silicon.
